Gather fellow techies, geeks and nerds. Late July 2nd, Doug Engelbert passed away.
- Douglas Engelbert
Doug Engelbert was the inventor of our beloved computer mouse. Without his hardware, peripheral invention, we would be navigating everything with a keyboard (not so bad, but it’s hard to do). He battled Alzheimer’s disease. He passed away due to an acute kidney failure.
Doug Engelbert was truly a visionary. His idea of controlling the user interface of a computer using a physical object connected to the unit is a remarkable idea. Think about it like this: without his invention, we would not have our optical mice, gaming mice and the hated Apple mice (which we all despise, I’m sure).
On behalf of all the techies, geeks and nerds who use the mouse each day, we thank you Doug Engelbert. Rest in peace.
